Retail theft should not depend on someone happening to notice it.
Traditional CCTV records what happens, but it still relies on someone watching, noticing, and reporting the right moment. In busy stores, potential loss events can easily go unseen.
VIASERVA follows product journeys automatically and surfaces potential loss events directly to authorised management, without identifying or persistently tracking the people in the store.
Protecting margins and respecting customer privacy should not be a tradeoff.

02How it works
Follow the product journey, not the person.
VIASERVA works alongside your existing CCTV system. Selected camera feeds pass through the on-site VIASERVA node for secure processing, while machine learning follows the product journey rather than the person.
When a product is picked up, VIASERVA gives it a temporary tracking token. That token follows the product through monitored areas and is destroyed once the journey is resolved. The token belongs to the product, not the person carrying it.
Machine learning is supported by movement, timing, and physics-based analysis to help VIASERVA keep track of the right product. If confidence drops, product context and recent movement history are used to recover the same journey where possible.
Video is encrypted before leaving the store, securely processed in the cloud, and relevant flagged events are encrypted and returned to the on-site node for authorised management review.
The expected journey
A journey is resolved when the product is returned to the shelf or reaches the checkout zone selected by the retailer. VIASERVA then destroys the temporary product token.

VIASERVA identifies product journeys that match its built-in loss-event rules and returns a short review clip to authorised store management. VIASERVA surfaces the event. A human makes the decision.

Understand the path.
Monitor the whole store or only the areas that matter most. Retailers choose which camera feeds are enabled for VIASERVA monitoring.
Store context and lightweight product signals such as shelf location, colour, size, and movement help VIASERVA maintain the product journey without needing to identify the shopper.
Movement patterns also help distinguish normal operational activity, such as shelf stocking or stock rotation, from separate product interactions without identifying employees.

VIASERVA does not track people. It does not create persistent human identities, use facial recognition, perform biometric identification, or follow individuals across cameras. Product movement is the tracking target.
Privacy protections are built into the system by default and cannot be repurposed by retailers into person-tracking features.
We have no intention of building business models around identifying, profiling, or exploiting individuals.
05Human review
Machine learning surfaces the event. Management makes the decision.
VIASERVA identifies product journeys that match its built-in loss-event rules and returns a short review clip to authorised management. The system never determines that theft has occurred.
Alerts are returned as soon as the review clip is ready. If the customer is still in the store, that can support timely intervention after management review. If not, the same clip can support post-event review and evidence handling.
